The GSG MP40 in .22 caliber is a semi-automatic rifle that is a tribute to the legendary MP 40 – one of the most famous submachine guns in the world. The GSG MP 40 is known for its striking historical resemblance to the original rifle, although it uses the smaller 22 Long Rifle cartridge.

The MP40 small-bore rifle is made of a steel and die-cast zinc body. With a barrel length of 10 inches and a weight of 3.2 kg, it is a relatively light and handy rifle. The semi-automatic weapon is visually and ergonomically almost indistinguishable from the original 40 machine gun. One notable difference is the .22 caliber, a popular rimfire cartridge known for its low recoil, affordability and wide availability. The small-bore ammunition offers a pleasant shooting experience and is therefore suitable for beginners, for plinking and for target shooting. The low price of the 22 lfb cartridge allows for extensive training sessions without driving up the cost.

The GSG MP40 is a small-bore self-loading rifle, which means it fires one shot per trigger pull. The 22 lfb small-bore repeating rifle offers you a 10-shot magazine that perfectly rounds off the authentic look. A 23-shot magazine can also be purchased. Aiming is done via an open sight with a rear sight and a front sight. The sight consists of a fixed and a folding rear sight. With the included Allen key, the sight can be loosened by loosening the M3 grub screw and adjusted to the left or right. 4 additional, interchangeable front sights at different heights are included with the weapon. The trigger is a single action trigger with a trigger weight of 3.2 kg. The buttstock is a folding stock like the original.

To ensure that the small-bore rifle functions smoothly and safely, it is necessary to use 22 caliber small-bore ammunition with an extra strong load. Such 22lr ammunition is called “HV”, which stands for High Velocity. The higher speed of the 22 lr HV ammunition ensures that the bullet has greater kinetic energy, which leads to improved ballistic performance. This has a positive effect on the precision, trajectory and penetration power of the bullet.

The GSG MP40 is one of the semi-automatic weapons for sport shooters, as the original weapon was introduced before September 2nd, 1945. The 22lr rifle can therefore be purchased by sport shooters with a pre-entry in the green gun ownership card (WBK). For hunters, however, it is possible to purchase it as usual with a valid annual hunting license.
